Rocky Owens is a director and producer recognized for emotionally driven and thought provoking narratives. Through this process, they skillfully build an honest and raw connection between audiences and brands.
Having grown up in The Deep South surrounded by Indigenous, immigrant, Jewish, and Appalachian family, Rocky was exposed to many cultures (and accents) at a young age. They were fascinated by each group's different traditions, sense of humor, and way of telling stories. Upon graduating journalism school, this fascination led them to booking a one-way ticket to New York City. With a suitcase, a thick Georgia accent, and 3 guaranteed days on a stranger's couch, they set out on their filmmaking journey.
Through a blend of serendipity and sheer determination, Rocky landed at Final Cut Inc., a renowned creative post-house. There, as a post-production producer, they collaborated with esteemed brands such as Nike, Rolex, Samsung, NHL, PGA, MTV, MAC, and L'Oreal, as well as acclaimed artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean, and Daniel Craig. Driven by a desire to forge deeper connections with audiences, Rocky transitioned to directing.
Over the last 7 years, they’ve focused on purpose-driven storytelling and have created a documentary, several short films, and branded content. They are always on the lookout for their next story.
